I though you were only talking about a model only. The model would be a sexy concept. The other trades might be okay--- what would the singer sing Japenese --- anyway would the person be of from america or born and raised there. IDK , but that model thing would make a killing- I mean a lot of money--- and exposure!!!!!!! You should try it. Im too old!!!
I don't think they will accept you. If you know how to speak Japanese that could help a little. In Japan you'll find hardly anyone that speaks another language other than Japanese. Socially, we are pretty tight but with foreigners we tend to avoid and stay away. As far as being a black model in Japan, chances are Japan won't get you even how pretty you are.
I watched America's Next Top Model one season and they had a Japanese model scout come view their top 3 girls. One was black (Eva who eventually won), one was VERY white with fair skin and white blonde hair, and I don't remember the 3d. The Japanese scout dismissed the black girl, and was smitten with the blonde. When questioned, he specifically said that the Japanese preferred the lighter complexion over the darker, and would equate it with beauty and wealth etc. Don't remember it word for word, but he made no bones about it. Apparently Japanese, and most other asian countries, hold light skin in very high esteem. I know when I spent some time in China, the girls I met were envious of my very fair skin.. the same skin I've burnt myself to a crisp as a kid trying to tan. I didn't understand it, I would have killed for their golden complexion, but I guess we all want what someone else has. You would not believe all the skin bleaching and lightening creams they sell there. SOOoo, I'd say that they would not be as favorably inclined towards a black model as they would a lighter skinned one, as far as a model goes anyway. A pop singer would probably have more leeway.
I'm sure someone will scream that I'm racist now but oh well. That's just what I've observed.
As said, just be cool and prepare to accept the surrounding and the people first b4 others will or will not accept you.
You must make yourself acceptable to them by your own behavior and projection of character---facial & body language and not colour. It is a plus point for your colour coz there are few over there and is itself an attraction. It is up to you to perform and win them over.
i live in okinawa, japan. and i watch japanesse tv and there r like americans/forigners who sing in japanesse and english. and every now and then they have guest stars(avril L., leona lewis) on this one music show. if i were u i would learn jap. so they can sing along with u in their own language.
