my 12 yr old cousin, who is OBSESSED with studio ghibli, and likes making things, gave me a felt 'totoro' thing for my birthday. i was totally nonplussed (not knowing what studio ghibli is, having not seen spirited away for about 4 years) (but it is brilliant) my question is how do i send someone from the company a photo of the thing my cuz made (i felt bad not knowing what it was, and i want to get a signed letter or just something back from them)????
thanks, any comments welcome. i need an address or email so i can send the photo?

Depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If the reason for the letter is business related, and you don't know how to write Japanese then you need a go between who can and has legitimate business credentials. It is rare in Japanese business to make a 'cold call' as in the US or Europe - this is especially true of the larger or better known firms. If this is some kind of personal letter (i.e. fan-letter), forget it. Do you know how many thousands of letters from fans all over the world they get? Hayao Miyazaki has been talking (threatening) retirement for more than 20 years. In this case, it's probably over the disagreement with Ghibli in letting his son, Goro, taking over some of the projects which he, Hayao, did not think his son was ready for.

To be honest, I think you should call the studio instead of writing a letter. If you cannot write in Japanese, then your letter will be thrown away. Plus, you will most likely not come into contact with anyone important: only a secretary.
