Alright, well let's start this thing off. I'm a 20 year old, blue eyes, red haired guy. With that, comes freckles and pale skin. Well, I'd like to try and make the best of it I can, so I should I go about trying to tan up a bit?

I've heard that getting it the old fashioned way will just end up making more freckles, with little or no tan. So, that kind of leaves tanning lotion. Is there any that doesn't "streak" if you, uhh, suck at putting it on yourself? Also, should you shower before/after you put it on? If no, should you wash your hands or anything?
