She has 4 teeth still coming in, could this be why?
She can't stand to sit beside me on the sofa or the bed without this maniacal, relentless snapping and biting. I didn't allow her to do it when she was little and I don't allow her now.
"No" doesn't work.
Distracting her with a toy doesn't work.
Removing myself works, until I go back in the room with her.
Removing her works, but she screams, barks, howls, cries for hours at top volume. Then when I go back to her she bites again.
She's had obedience classes.
I play with her and walk her like crazy at least 2 hours a day.
Is she a "bad seed" or just still teething?
Sorry for sounding negative, just sleep deprived here.
She's a beautiful dog, and has moment where she is very sweet (if she's expecting a treat)--- but this biting, snapping nonsense is driving me NUTS.
Thanks for your insights--

Has she always bitten this much or is it recent? I'm thinking at her age, the teeth she's getting are molars - they're big and her mouth hurts. Have you tried getting her teething toys made for dogs? Or you can just wet, then freeze an old face cloth, then give her that to chew. The frozen cloth helps soothe their gums.
Other than that, just stay firm with your training. (A 6 month old puppy has only begun obedience training, its an on-going process.)
Since this sounds really severe, you might want to consider taking her to the vet for an exam, maybe she's got a problem with her teeth.
Mine used to bite all the time while they where teething and do now occasionally when they gets worked up and playful. I used ouch when they bit me and turned away and ignored them after a few times they got it and it was the only technique that worked. Get her some teething toys they help as she will have some thing to chew and stop her from wanting to bit you also a bone or something like that. Also ice cubes are great specially with treats! Just keep at the training and shell eventually get it, I hope this helps. Good luck!
My lab did that to me one day then she stopped.
First you gotta go drain all her energy by walking for an hour or so. Then I tempted my dog to bite me. What I did was shape my hand like a mouth. Then as soon as he nipped at me, I used my hand to "bite" her on her neck. I would then hold her down by her neck and my other hand held her back leg area. Just held her down until she claimed down and was laying there on her own. Then I tempted her to nip or bite me again by waving my hands or whatever and repeated the process. When she wouldn't nip, I would praise her. Then when I was confident she wouldn't try nipping anymore I would give her one of those chew toy bones. She never nipped at me again.
Reason why you use ur hand to "bite" her on her neck is because their moms use to do it to them. When they would get out of control, their moms used her mouth to hold her down by her neck. I got it all from the dog whisperer. If you can find the episode, he can show you it better. Worked for me maybe it will work for you.
purchase a extensive crate for him and constantly feed him in his crate. toddlers might desire to be stored nicely removed from canines whilst they are eating their meal. Thank the Gods it wasn't a severe chew. If the canines meant company it could have been severe, he replace into giving your niece a warning. i'm hoping the little lady isn't too traumatized via it. you will possibly desire to get your puppy into obedience training.
