Saudi arabia is the best place to save money & Dubai is the best place to spend money.
eg: If you earn 10000 SAR monthly, if you are an Asian you could find a descent flat for 2000SAR monthly. Most westerners are given a very good compound/villa type home.
Monthly expenses may not be more than 1500-2000 SAR monthly for a couple.(including food/water/electricity).
for a westerner, it may extend upto 6000 SAR.
In case, if you a drink, you may travel to Bahrain which is very close to Dammam/ Al-Khobar.(located in north eastern part of KSA).
If are located in the western/central part of Saudi, it is very difficult to travel every weekend to Bahrain.
Otherwise, life in Saudi is calm, you can have your own small group with whom you can go out for shopping/recreation/play games.
Only thing is ladies are given good respect & it is mandatory that they should wear Abhaya(a long fully covered black dress),mostly non-muslims ladies do not cover their faces. First time when you enter the kingdom, it is better to use a head scarf.
Work hard, save a lot of money, low living expenses= Saudi
Work hard, spend and waste all your money, high living expenses= Dubai
You do the math but if you're a first timer to Saudi then you have to expect to see a lot of differences between saudi and wherever you're living now. Except maybe if you go to Jeddah and stick to the north of the city then there won't be a lot of diff between there and say Bahrain or Kuwait.
Make your choice and please google enough to know a lot about both countries before you actually choose and move somewhere
it depends on your lifestyle and what is your motivation to come here. Your focus should be clear - If you want to pay off a mortgage, then come to saudi, work and save for two to three years and you will be debt-free. Most companies will arrange everything from acco to car to health insurance for you - you ronly monthly expenditure will be food and electricity and water (quite cheap).
Dubai is a good place to spend money, as others here have observed. and in fact a lot of people are packing their bags there to come to saudi precisely bcos the spending and costs have really gotten out fo control. Plus in dubai they know now they are a destination of choice for a lot of expats so the deals arent that great. what looks great on paper in say London is not that great here in dubai bcos the rents are more than london (really) and the cost of living is v v high and traffic is perhaps the worst in the world.
On the flip side there are nightclubs, pubs, you can drink freely.. you can a drink in saudi too but you shud know who to contact etc... so think about your priorities in life.
Saudi is right now, in this environment of credit crunch, is i think a safe haven. A secure job with a good salary and decent timings, an excellent standard of living, a peaceful, if sometimes boring life (but i think in present volatile ecnomic consitions a little boring is fine!!!) low costs with an occasional drink thrown in - what else does a man/woman want??
Plus i think isnt there a hiring freeze in dubai???
Depends on what you are looking for. Dubai is way more expensive than Saudi. Saudi is more safe and community based. Dubai is more diverse, but does have it's problems.
Both are just as good , different is you get more for your money in the Saudi than in the Gulf areas, Accommodations in Saudi is far too cheap than Gulf areas, food almost the same, No night life in Saudi while there is in Gulf areas... If you want to take money with you when you finish your contract, the Saudi is the best place to save them. Best of luck to you
probably Dubai.. Large companies now hiring.. But only disadvantage (unless your company is paying all expenses) cost of living is now skyrocketing there in Dubai to match the salaries.. Where-as cost of living is still good and low here in SaudiArabia.. If you can bare the lifestyle here in SaudiArabia for even a couple of years, you can save tons of money before moving on elsewhere.. But most western foreigners cant deal with this culture.. No liquer, no bars, no clubs, no mixing openly of the genders.. etc.. its different..
whatz the need of working so hard & getting gud pay when u cant save it. dubai's cost of living is very very high.so, saudi is for sure best place to earn & save lot of money.
