“die by tiny increments”?
Hi, I am a Japanese Marvel Comic fan and was reading “Ms.Marvel”. There was one phrase i couldn’t understand:
“If you don’t meet me at the Valentine’s Day Dance, my heart will die by tiny increments, like frost across a windowpane”
What does “die by tiny increments” mean? I looked “increments” up in the dictionary but couldn’t understand.
FYI, it is a part of love letter to invite a girl to dance party.
Please advise.

It means that his heart will slowly go away since he is so upset. This relates to the frost across a windowpane, because the frost slowly fills up along the window, and will eventually cause the whole window to fill with frost.
