Can I write a check with no funds in my bank account?
I'm lending my roommate some money. She won't deposit the check until tomorrow sometime in the morning and my direct deposit doesn't come in until the afternoon. Would she be able to deposit the check without it bouncing?

Be a whole lot better if she didn't try to get funds from the account until there were funds IN the account. However, if she's depositing your check in her account in a different bank and not trying to withdraw funds based on the check, there might be up to a 3-day clearance before the funds would be available to her, and you'd be OK.
