i hear that zonealarm is really annoying, well for the free edition not sure about the paid one, AVG i have had experience with and its pretty good.

AVG is a good anti virus. But Zonealarm has been having problems with many of the latest leak tests. I run Comodo Firewall Pro.

The best firewall going is Comodo Firewall Pro. Check out the ratings. It is right at the top. Best of all it is free. Also, to protect against spyware and malware, try Boclean.
