There will always be controversy surrounding any world wide event such as the Olympics and the World Cup (events that Brazil will be hosting soon!). But that will not stop tourists to coming to Brazil to support their country at the World Cup next year. However, if we begin to see violence in Brazil that threatens the safety of visitors, then it's unlikely that Americans or anyone from any nation will want to visit Brazil.
Some Americans but not as many as would go if Brazil wasn't going through this. If the situation doesn't change then less people will go for the World Cup because of violence and whatever
Yeah its like thinking about vacationing in Afghanistan or Syria and enjoy running block to block to get something to eat dodging some bullets while avoiding market squares where bombs might kill a hundred people.
FIFA could hold the World Cup in the USA where there are plenty of large stadiums like Dallas Cowboys Stadium that seats close to 105,000 people comfortably with the biggest screens on the planet and it is air conditioned.
