We know most smart phones and other products are made outside of the US and companies do so to pay lower wages and "keep the prices down" they claim.
Even customer service is outside of the US I think.
Would you want those jobs to go back even if the prices of these items and/or service even if it means the prices sky rocketed?
Would we pay let's say $1000 for a phone if it was manufactured in America and so was its customer support?

Here's the dirty little secret. All of that Made in China #$%^ is sold in this country is sold at the same price as if it were made in the USA by union labor. The profit margin is much higher, but you can forget about those 'Everyday Low Prices'.... you'll never see them. The blue collar middle class is rapidly going the way of the buffalo in this country because the trans national corporations don't need US labor and because China has over a billion consumers as opposed to our 350 million consumers. Tthey don't need us as workers and they don't need us as customers either. If you pay twelve bucks for a Made in China T-shirt, be assured that it would also cost twelve bucks if made in the USA. The difference is that the made in China shirt gives Wal-Mart a five to seven dollar profit while a Made in the USA might bring in a fifty cents less. For that half a buck per shirt the trans national corporations are allowing the USA to die an economic death, or at least allowing the American middle class to fade away into the working class working poor. Of course one of these days the Chinese Communist Party will nationalize all of these trans national corporations and shoot all the corporate executives, but that's another story.
No. And we will not have to. Don't look now but ...
"China and US Costs Even by '15
China is no longer a slam dunk for manufacturers looking for the lowest cost for operations.
In fact, a new study by the consulting firm AlixPartners estimates by 2015 the cost of outsourcing manufacturing to China will be equal to the cost of manufacturing in the U.S.
As Gomer Pyle would say .. Shazamm!!!!
PS: One other thing. Presently the United States is the number one country for insourcing jobs.
How 'bout the cheapest jeans running $72 - sound like a plan, sports fans? Think $32 white t-shirts gonna be flyin' off the shelves, duzzya?
Time make "made in America" mean something again. Prices always go up.
I think the question is why would I want to pay higher prices for any reason? I don't really care what happens to my fellow americans because american is not a valid identity.
Well I believe if we stopped all out sourcing our prices would go down because we would sell more product.
I already pay more to buy products that were made in the USA.
I just think America should have her people with jobs before anything else. But some people don't care that certain people have jobs. Then complain they are on food stamps. That's not right.
it's good, efficient business for them so it's not likely
Why yes I would.
