One of the better and most relevant questions to this Country. I am surprised to even see this.
Excellent question and let me comment.
That is how it was back in the day (founding fathers). Politicans back then (US Congress mainly as that is where most of the important ones are) - they were volunteer jobs with very little contributions, bribes as they were VOLUNTEERS giving back to their respective areas that they represented and their constituents in that area. It was the CULTURE back then. That means they would turn over in their graves if they knew of the lobbyists, career attorneys/lawyers as politicans, bribes, etc. to the extent that it goes on today.
The US Constitution does not specifically state that members of the US Congress are volunteers just giving back but since it was the culture at the time - it was understood and could be argued that is what the Constitution meant.
Americans have suffered so much from what is going on presently (became bad during the World War II time period) - paid and bought for career lawyer politicans. I could repeat this a hundred times. Americans have suffered so much from what is going on presently - paid and bought for career lawyer politicans. Americans have suffered so much from what is going on presently - paid and bought for career lawyer politicans.
Excellent question and I have often thought in the back of my mind what would be the solution but the problem is - THE FOXES ARE GUARDING THE HENHOUSE.
So - I would be in favor of legislation that would make all political jobs volunteer but I am sure the US Congress would not go for that one. lol!
Because "big government" is a term that conservatives use to refer to helping poor people, and it has nothing to do with the web of corporate influence at the heart of American politics.
If Obama supporters are prepared to place aside, and that they do, his relationships of unfavorable judgment in "pals," they could, and could, forget all else. he's their rock action picture star and his supporters are going to the stay overall performance without understanding that he won't be able to play an device and he won't be able to sing.

Word definitions of campaign contributors do not resemble word definitions of big government.

Um, the problem is here that special interests are not part of the government.
Compared to my measly individual contributions, they are certainly "big government"
IDK
