Here's a link to a short and interesting video that spells it out.

I like it on face value. This oil tycoon knows a thing or two about leveraging I'm sure, and leveraging is what he's suggesting.
Best part is, we can start this right away without waiting for the goverment to come up with a plan.
Again, I'm just wondering what everyone thinks?
Update:Shane:
A wise man once told me that I could always trust someone's greed. Guys like T. Boone Pickens, and Ross Perot for that matter, have demostrated an ability to get into problems and come up with good answers. Are they doing it for themselves? I don't have to care, so long as it works for me too.

Some capitalists like T. Boone Pickens realize that alternative energy is the way to go and a lot of money can be made of it. The green market is gathering more and more momentum and a certain faction of business realizes that and are taking advantage of it.
The government will have to come up with a plan with incentives for most of the rest to follow. It would be nice to think that everyone would happily start switching to more environmentally friendly methods but it will not happen without the government stepping in. But Pickens and those with him will have a head start.
He might be a GOP capitalist but he is one that is working to help the energy crisis in the country, even if it is mainly guided by money.
Replacing natural gas generation with renewables and using the natural gas to power vehicles is a very good idea to lower demand for oil.
One major flaw is that he does not mention the absolute necessity of drilling for more oil in ANWR and off the US coasts. We need oil now as we have well over a hundred million vehicles that run on gasoline and diesel. I like his idea for wind power in the middle of the US, as it is quite windy in those states. But most Americans don't live in areas that would make solar power a wise investment.
Do you really trust this guy, or is he just out to make a huge fortune using govt money?
We can do with renewable energy what Brazil did by becoming energy independent. It just takes a plan and to execute that plan
If he does it without tax payer money great.
