Meteorologists frequently mention teleconnections, primarily when they discuss the potential for winter weather. What are they talking about?
Especially interested to hear from Y!A's Weather forum meteorologists!
Update:By the dearth of responses it would appear...despite self-appointed claims to the contrary...there's only one other Meteorologist posting to the Weather forum.

Teleconnections basically are correlations between weather events in different places around the world. In other words, when a certain weather event takes place in one place, there is relatively high correlation between that event and the weather change in another part of the world. El Nino and La Nina are two examples, wherein when they cause changes in weather over one section of the world, certain definite changes are seen in other places in response.
