No, I enjoy seeing an entire race degrade, humiliate, and destroy itself. It's not only in rap, but in all "black music," black TV and movies, in the hoods, on the streets, in the schools, everywhere. Most of Africa is even a constant war zone.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not racist or wish this on anyone. But it is a phenomenon only among this one race, and it is crazy to see them wipe themselves out. The hate each other. It's primal. I think there is something wrong with them underneath they're black skin...that black gene, I guess, but it truly is a very unique phenomenon- the lack of respect and the hatred these people put on themselves.
Your question is very vague since "rap" doesn't narrow it down too much. The music industry? The producers? The rappers?
The answer is no. Traditionally, rap music is a reflection of the "streets" and the lives the rappers supposedly experience. So cleaning that up would take away some of the appeal. Then people (mostly white) will not spend all that money to make the music biz richer.
Is it a bad influence for children? Of course it is. You can only hope that the "rap" trend evolves into something less destructive, and more positive as far as the message being conveyed. You can't just clean something up without the government stepping in, and we don't want that!
Of course but a lot of the time, the music is censored. The only time you would hear the real hardcore stuff is if you actually bought it. So people need to quit buying it if it's so dirty. I just think we have bigger problems. Like domestic violence. It's not just the rappers who are degrading women. There are white men callin their own wives & girlfriends degrading names. There's racism. There's the war. So I just think we have bigger problems but rap could be a start. Then we can work on other things too. So a lot of things should be cleaned up. Rappers aren't the only people who degrade women. They aren't the only ones who promote violence. They aren't the only ones who think it's ok for women to parade around in lingerie. So if people just want to put all the blame on rap, that's not the way to go. Look at the other issues too. So there is a lot of work that needs to done.
This is another "politically correct" thing thats going around the media and music world now, we cant say anything we have to waqtch our p's and q's already i dont agree with the words rap artists use but at the end of the day its expression and their expression and after all freedom of expression is important, im sure if rap artists stopped using those words kids still pick it up anyway, its a load of rubbish if theyw ant to use it they should
It's the fact that sex and derogatory words sells and stuff like Lipe Fiasco, Common, and all the other real hip hop artist from back in the day doesn't sell anymore and record labels know that. trust me, if the record execs saw a decline in sales b/c of the lyrics and videos, they would change their minds and put out what sells. Rappers only do what they do today to make money for the labels and themselves and care nothing about the repercussions to society. Why should they? The people who give them money don't!
I don't really care. In my opinion: if you don't like it you don't have to listen to it. Also, you can get radio edits of almost every single, so I don't see what the big deal is. Its a free country let them do what they want. The only reason I would like the music cleaned up at all is because my neighbor is rude and when he sees that my 5-year-old niece is over he blares his rap as loud as possible (and he doesn't have the radio edits).
I would like it if they would, however I honestly believe that a lot of the popularity of rapper is the "shock" factor. I've read where rappers say that all they are doing is talking about the neighborhood where they grew up, and that they are talking about their life's in general. I do have some problem with that...I am sure that if you looked into the true upbringing of the rappers, you would find that some of the had a good upbringing...not surrounded by "hos" and "bi-a-tches" etc,etc
No, people should stop being so hypersensative to everything. The funny thing is white people can never claim they are being descriminated against even though we often are. We would be called racist if we did. There is definetly a double standard. I just let it go and really don't care what people say. Sticks and Stones............
If rap should clean up it's act then all types of music should clean up it's act, like pop-singers like Britney and Christina who I think can get way to slutty.
Rappers talk about what they see, if you don't like don't listen to it.

Yes, rap should cleanup it's act. But I also believe society should stop trying to blame everything on rap.
