My dog is sick and well we have to put him down and he has "best friend" that is a dog that grew up with him I'm not sure if he knows his friend is sick and some of my friends are telling me to take my healthy dog to the vet to see his friend get put down so he knows why he isn't coming back and for them to "say goodbye"

Personally, if I were in this situation, I would take the other dog and allow him to be in the room when it is done. However, I would make sure that he had a suitable escape route so that he could get out if he wanted to and was not being forced to watch.
I would also allow him to see and sniff the other dog's body after he has been put down. This may help him to come to terms with what has happened.
I am so sorry that you have to have your dog put down. I love dogs and totally understand how it must feel to be in this situation.
If you need any advice on how to cope after he has died and/or on how to help others cope, please feel free to contact me for some tips. Don't worry, I won't bite.
Best of luck.
I would personally never do that to my dog. Don't worry the other one knows he is sick they are smarter than you think, they will say goodbye in their own way there isn't really any need to make the other dog watch him get put down.
Dogs are very very smart, so the other dog already knows he's sick and won't be staying very long. I suggest leaving him at home, and then spending a lot of time with him when you get back.
Sorry for your loss
You should be with the dog. As for the second dog, that is your decision.
Look up th poem Rainbow Bridge, It will tell you about the dog.
Sorry for your loss.
No. The healthy dog knows that his friend is sick, he can smell it. They can smell impending death, too. Having him watch the dog put down is cruel. He will hate the vet office forever, even just to get his shots and such from then on.
Your vet's not going to allow the healthy dog into the room, it's animal cruelty.
Animals know when another's going to die. If they were truly close, he'll grieve regardless.
nah the other dog knows that the doggy is sick and wont be stickin around just pay alot of attention to him after it is done and be really kind to him
The dog will be depressed either way so it's up to you... I'm really sorry for your loss
