we're currently called The Stiffs but recently found out that there's already a signed band goin by that name. we play guitar based rockabilly music and drink a lot. any suggestions?
You've got to find a name that describes you, and fits your music, the best names mean something to the band members, look for inspiration from your influences and heroes.
For example; The Buddy Holly and the Crickets fans who wanted an insect name for themselves, The Beatles. The Muddy Waters fans who took their name from one of his songs, The Rolling Stones. Or the band whose manager took one look at the audience and told the band still called The New Yardbirds, your going to go over like a lead Balloon. Led Zeppelin
Choose an obscure rockabilly song and name yourself after that if you think it suits you. Something kind of rough and masculine would seem to fit your image and your music, from the description. I don't agree that you shouldn't start with "The", though; if anything, more and more bands nowadays don't have a "the" at the front of their names. It'd add a retro touch, I guess.
I can tell you this much, I am tired of bands that put the word "The" in front of their name. It is way to trendy now. But a band name is something you got to come up with. Not us.
