The questions are multiple choice. And if you've studied the manual, they're also insultingly easy. People have passed the exam using nothing but common sense and blind luck, but for them it's a gamble. Gambling means sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. For you, because you studied, it's not a gamble. The questions will look kind of like this...

When approaching a green light, you should...

a) assume the intersection is clear and proceed through it.

b) drive into the middle of the intersection and shut the engine off.

c) check the intersection ahead, and proceed when it is clear.

d) accelerate quickly before the light turns amber.

You probably won't get that exact question (but you might), but that's what they look like. Two of the options will always be dead wrong, and the right answer will be obvious to anyone who knows the rules. And the rules are all in the handbook.

You can expect a whole lot of questions about the conditions, limitations and restrictions that apply to the permit itself (ie: curfews, maximum passengers, who can supervise you, etc), and at least (I said at least) two questions about driving and booze / drugs. The rest will be about road signs and the general rules of the road.

i took my permit test the first time without studying because everyone told me it was common sense, some questions are but some you really need to actually study & learn and I failed. I studied & took the online practice test until i got 100% than took it a second time & i passed.

the most common questions on the test are NOT unusual. They are simple "common sense" bits.

Do you Speed up to make it before it turns Red?

Do you Stop if you can do so safely?

If you read the manual, that is all you need to do to pass.
