So my cat has spent 7 years here and throughout these 7 years when a human approached her she'd stay away.
Unlike other cats she doesn't like sitting next to people and purring she's a bit too independent
No body from my family ever abused her in 5 years (well i might have because once she came i was very young and maybe annoyed her when i forced her to stay with me)
Now she just sat beside me and purred and that's maybe the third time in her life
Is it normal? And how can i make her trust people more?

all cats are not lap cats, and she may just prefer her own company, although i would say somthing stressed her about humans when she was young. At 7 years old she is starting to get into her twilight years and is no longer a young adult, but a older one, this probably explians the change in attitude as she mellows, and wants to spend more time with her family
I think its just her personality. My cat always runs away from kids. She darts under the bed and won't come out till the kid leaves. It also takes her awhile to warm up to adults but it isn't as bad.
Sounds like the cat has some feral blood in it. If so, you'll never change her preference.
