When I was 15, my brothers and sisters and I posted a sign on the frig with our pictures on it, begging our parents to stop smoking. They tried to stop that summer and were unsuccessful. (It was a very difficult summer...) They continued smoking until I was 28, when my dad died of lung cancer. It makes me so sad that my dad never got to meet my husband, and that my twins never got to even meet their grandpa. Mom quit smoking that year...I miss my dad every day.
Do whatever you can to help him stop. But he has to really want to stop, because it won't be easy.
well i smoke and i have a 10 yr old and a 8 yr old, and i am so trying to quit. i want to see my kids grow up and my grand kids, i am young (30) which is young to me, and my doctor says if i quit now i have a better chance, of clearing my lungs up and the damage i have already done to my body, I would just sit down and talk to my father, and tell him of your concerns. my dad smoked for 30 years and quit, so i know it can be done, Good Luck.
Talk with you dad about your concerns about his health and you and your sisters health too. He is an adult, so use discression and respect. If he still lights up ask if he can go out side to smoke so you can stay healthy. If he still does not you go out side or to your room with open windows and take your sister with you.
