The family likes things like carrots, onion, potatoes, cukes, corn... what will grow well with our cold nights but relatively nice days? Any help would be appreciated! We don't have a lot of room for a garden but are trying to help offset major food price increases, plus we used to like to garden!!
Thanks :)
Update:S Qld winter nights can in the 40s (fahrenheit), days in the 60s- 70s.
We need something hardy!!

How cold are your nights? There are a lot of veggies that can thrive on cold nights but nice days. If you don't get really cold, as in having frosts or freezes, then you can probably grow pretty much most of what you are looking to do.
Tender crops, like corn, squash, cukes & melons can normally take cold down to near freezing, but would need protection from intense cold and would be harder to grow. As long as it doesn't freeze or frost you could probably grow these all winter, too, or could do so with something as simple as a sheet tossed over your tender plants.
Potatoes, beets, garlic, parsnips, carrots, swiss chard, lettuce, peas, cabbage, leeks, radish, turnips, swedes and many others are all able to be grown and either winter sown or harvested.
your winter is our summer here in auckland n.z., so with the cold night i would go for the brassicas, broccoli, cabb. s/ beet to start off, with also parsnips . good luck
