I just started golfing a few months ago and I am still really bad. I miss the ball when I swing and if I do hit it, it goes off completely in a different direction then wanted or it just goes like a few feet. How do I fix this?? Please help
Chloe, it is obvious you have had no lessons. Therefor I recommend the basics first then the golf play. The shoulders and hips supply the power and the arms and hands only guide the club. When your addressing the ball (stance) have a straight back and slightly flexed legs. Your hands grip the club handle like you shake hands with the left thumb along the top seam and the right hand overlapping the first left thumb and finger. Now take a slow smooth back swing up to your right shoulder point, not your head or neck. The right wrist must bend at the top and your body twist back to gather power. Next hit the ball in an inside to out arc finishing up over the left shoulder. Do this with out moving your head off the ball until the club is past the ball position. Your left arm must be straight until over shoulders.
Golf some times is a very hard sport to play depending. If you want to improve your shot the number one thing I can say to you is to keep your eye on the ball. I had this problem when I first started and I would miss the ball a lot. So when your coming threw your swing keep your eye on the ball because most people have the tendency to want to see where the ball is going and not actually look at it when they shoot. So don't concentrate on where it is going to go, concentrate on keeping your eye on it.
Also you might be to close to the ball, if you are using a driver or any type of club back up from the tee so that you have a arms length so you can have a nice full swing. I also had this problem, I would stay to close to the ball and I would get 50 yards on a drive when I first started, after I practiced stepping back I could then drive 200 and up yards.
So keep your eye on the ball and step back farther from the ball so you can have a nice full swing. Also if your ball is curving a lot in the air, its called a slice. Choke up on your club a bit and hold the club tighter when you are swinging.
The easiest way to learn golf like a pro is by following "The Simple Golf Swing" program. It's primarily a 31 page eBook that teaches golfers how to make solid contact with the ball, how to avoid hitting fat, how to avoid slicing, how get more power, accuracy, and consistency in your swing. Consistency being the number 1 golf skill.
You not only get the eBook though, you also receive a ton of extra material including video, lessons on putting, driving, chipping, sand play etc. Here is their official site: http://www.golfswingguru.net/
