I am afraid that whatever is killing them, will hurt my two indoor/outdoor cats. My cats always meow in front of the door to show me what has just died there.
Do you think it is an environmental cause? Do you think the cats are worried when they see the dead animals on my doorstep and they meow to me because they are mourning for them?

Haha, your kidding right? Your cat killed them, It's kind of like a present in your cats mind. Look closer at the dead animals, and you'll probably see teeth marks. My cats personally like to decapitate them sometimes.
And why do you think it isn't YOUR cats? They're meowing at you to show you the "food" they have brought you. Another animal wouldn't bring the dead animals to YOUR house. Seriously?
You may not care enough about your cats to keep them indoors where they belong but shouldn't you care about the wildlife? House cats hunt for sport not food and one cat can kill up to a thousand birds and small animals in just a year's time.
Feed your cat good and play with him because when a cat is bored or hungry he kills insects birds and other things. They get all those cadavers to your door because they want to be proud of your cat. They get the birds and tell you look daddy what a trophy I have for you and now play with me!
They're aren't mourning for them... cats are feral. They'll be able to smell the flesh and it will make them hungry.
It's probably just another cat leaving presents for your pets, nothing to worry about. And certainly nothing to do with the environment, I shouldn't think.
Cats usually bring their owners a dead something to say "Thanks for taking care of me" Could it be that your cats are leaving these little gifts for you? If not you have an admire of the feline crew who thinks you are awesome!
