You don't have to rely on your mom, look for odd jobs, or offer to babysit some toddler in your neighborhood, or knock on people's doors and say you'll walk their dog for $2 or $3 per half hour. So asking your parents for spending allowance only works if they're earning good $$, and can easily afford to give you, maybe $10 allowance a week in exchange for doing all your chores, and keeping your school grades up. If your parents seems to be struggling on $$, don't bother asking. Look at doing odd jobs for friends and neighbors instead. Working to earn $$ shows more maturity, than going around asking, or begging for $$.
