Take a look at what's going on in your life that may be distracting you, (besides Yahoo! Answers ;) and see if you can make some personal discipline changes.
Get plenty of sleep, and eat healthier, and less sugars and caffeine! I know, it's really hard to NOT have caffeine when studying, but it does cause you to crash eventually.
Whatever you do, avoid sitting on a bed or too comfy of a sofa or chair because at least I used to always fall victim to "resting my eyes" which lead to hours of missed studying because I was dreaming that I failed the final (I was supposed to be studying for).!
Power off your cell phone, iPod (unless the music actually helps your concentration, and study pace), TV, etc.
Maybe write down a small goal outline for yourself so you can put 5-6pm Algebra; 6:30pm - 7:00pm dinner break; 7:00-9:00 History, etc. It won't look as overwhelming when it's broken down in smaller goals than as the big picture.
Think about how pitiful your life will be when you leave school with no job prospects. That's usually a very good motivator.
Look, you have to put yourself into the zone and be alert. Eat a big breakfast and clear your mind for the day. Deal with all the non-school stuff when you get home.
School is the only chance you have of making a solid foundation for your future. If you're finding it difficult to concentrate in class, try to understand why?
* Is your teacher more boring than watching paint dry?
* Is the environment to disruptive?
* Is the subject uninteresting to you?
Once you know WHY you're having problems, this can then open the door on how to deal with the issue at hand. Try talking to your teachers - if they are good teachers, and you're a genuine learner, they can help you out. That is what they are employed for.
If you're still having trouble, find a tutor - a fellow student; who is happy to explain things to you. Just don't pilfer their work, plagiarise, or cheat.
At the end of the day, it's your choice - only you can make yourself study. No one else can make you do it.
