I know you're not going to want to hear this, but some of us are just doomed to have flawed skin. Though, it will get better once you become an adult (I'm assuming you're a teenager) Your first responder was correct in saying OTC acne products are not going to help you. I usually use hypoallergenic products, because acne can be caused by irritiated skin, among other things.
You can try the dermatologist, but don't let them give you antibiotics. Don't get me wrong, antibiotics will clear up your skin. But if you take them for your skin now, they won't work as well when you get older. And you may develop allergies to some that will cause problems when you get an infection. This is what I'm going through right now. I took antibiotics for years for my skin, and now I'm allergic to three different families of antibiotics, and the ones I can take don't work as well. And I'm only 37, it may get worse as I get older.

Go to a dermatologist. Enough said.
The over the counter products only help people with the occasional zit or very mild acne.
Believe me, the sooner you go to the dermatologist, the faster you will achieve the glowing, zit free skin you want.
Until then, use an aspirin mask but crushing 5-10 uncoated aspirin tablets and mixing them with your favorite clay mask. Leave on for an hour, if it doesn't sting of course, and rinse off. Your skin may peel and be red for the next few days after that, but it will get rid of white heads, black heads, and redness after new skin is revealed after the peeling process.
