okay, so i have my history paper typed on Microsoft Word. I am going back to edit it now, but whenever I go to fix something and I start typing the letters I type replace the letters that were already there and they disappear. How can I fix it so that the letters don't disappear, like so that I can go back and add sentences without messing anything up?
I have the 2003 edition. Thanks.

Go to 'tools', 'options', 'edit' and make sure 'over-type mode' is unchecked.
You've accidentally put Word into Overtype mode. Pressing the Insert key is the usual way of getting into this -- and the easiest way of getting out again.
Hope that helps.
Hit the "Insert" key on the keyboard. That toggles between Insert and Overwrite.
