Awww Madi...poor little angel! Broken collarbones are no fun! My son has broken his collarbone twice, once when he was 12 while snowboarding and then he broke it again last April at a State Wrestling Tournament ( the same one)...she'll cheer up, its still difficult for her having pain and not being able to use it, the pain should be gone very soon and she will get used to doing things with her arm in an immobilizer. Lots of hugs and kisses and bowls of ice cream work wonders to cheer them up when they're broken!

My daughter broke her humerus (bone between elbow and shoulder) when she was five. She couldn't be casted (like your child) because the cast would pull the break apart further...so she was just in a sling.

You're not going to make your child cheerful - she's in too much pain, and her activities are too restricted. Just be with her and help her. Help her with arts and crafts - taking the cap off the markers, opening things, and so forth.) Have some friends come over.

The good news is that kid heal really fast.

When my daughter was 7 she fell of the monkey bars and dislocated her shoulder and bruised her collar bone and I also had no idea to help cheer her up.

I ended up asking her if she wanted to do anything, watch anything or have any treat she wanted. All she wanted was to was going shopping for a couple of new games we could play together, some movies and ice cream.

If she likes to make things and get messy, you can always make a cake or some muffins together and let her lick out the bowel or you could go for a walk and play a game like eye spy or name that animal while you are walking or maybe just cuddle up with her and watch a movie of her choice.

First off, I am so sorry to hear that, because those are painful.

Well, I don't have any children but I broke my wrist...and my other friends have broken more things. Snuggle her, watch movies, have a shopping day, or a girls day. Go out and buy ice cream. Treat her to a nice meal. Rent or buy her favorite movie. Things like that...

My daughter (20 months) broke her elbow last weekend. Other than keeping up on pain medication and lots of snuggles there isn't a whole lot I did different. She doesn't seem to notice it or mind her cast at this point, and your daughter will probably get to that point as well.

my daughter broke her arm the day after her 5th birthday, she's just turned 7 now.

Most things i tried to do to cheer her up didn't really work, but she came around after a week or so, after the pain went away.

Just be around her and give lots of cuddles, watch dvd's with her, make her ice cream cones with fun toppings and all that fun stuff kids like when they are sick or injured

That's all in 17 years while doing something I wasn't supposed to.

What I can remember my parents doing mostly is talking to me,trying to include me and be with me,even if it was just laying in the bed with me.

Well, I had a compound fracture several years ago when i was a kid and I was high off drugs. Lol. I couldn't even respond half of the time because I was always asleep or zoned out.

My suggestion is to just make sure you grab whatever it is she needs. I loved seeing my mom bring me my food and everything. Hehe. It was so empowering. :)
