Ok I have a dog who just turned 7 months. Her appt to be spayed is in 8 days (i got screwed on this I made the appt 3 weeks ago). I noticed about 5 days ago (18th) that there was a little blood on her fur. I have since noticed only 2 blood spots on the carpet but that is all...she is always licking herself though. I assume she is in heat as her sister (my neighbors dog) is also in heat (i know wierd coincidence). Is it safe for me to take her into petsmart. I know enough not to let dogs mount her or anything but I have been taking her regularly for socialization, i skipped last sunday and was wanting to take her tomorrow...bad idea?
My other question is if it is normal not to really see any blood when they are in heat...my brothers weim had drops all over the house and stuff all on the couch etc. With her mom after the pups were born I would on occasion notice blood on the floor after her sitting but her also there was not all that much.
Sorry this is my 1st dog ever to go into heat and I did not expect it.
Thank you.

I wouldn't be taking her out in public. Two males dogs might get into a fight because of it.
I would suggest calling your vet on Monday. Most likely he will want to delay the surgery until after her heat cycle in about 3 weeks since it is riskier because they lose more blood when in heat. If you are not able to positively prevent her from coming into contact with other males though, it still can be done.
Normally a 7-month old dog should not mounted by any dog. Its too young and her hips are not so suitable to have a baby. wait until she is 2 years old or on her 4th heat.
For your next question, not all dogs have the same signs when they are in heat. Some have alot of blood and some got a few. I personally see this differences with my three female dogs.
Wait until her 4th heat to have her mounted or else you will sacrifice not only your dog but also her babies.
1) you can take her to petsmart, but if she is still bleeding, then it really not fair to the people work there, or if htere are any male dogs there it will make them go crazy, fixed or not. And it would be a risk. As it would be ok to take her, I would not reccomend it at all
2) It is completly normal to have some blood. She could be in heat up to 3 weeks so keep a good eye on her AT ALL TIMES
Keep her away from petsmart until she's spayed.
Honestly, even taking her outside is a risk at this point.
I am not overly experienced with female dogs, but I don't think that the small amount should be anything to worry about. If you think it's a cause for concern, you can always ask your vet at the appointment
Yes it should be just fine for you to take your dog to petsmart and let her see other dogs but male dogs will want to mate with her while she is there. So I don't think it is a bad idea. And yea it is normal that she is not bleeding much and they will constantly lick down their while in heat.
your dog is problbly cleaner than the other dog that is why no blood. and there is no blood at the very end of heat she may be done by spay date try to keep it it won't hurt her. you can still take her out just keep her away from other dogs even if they don't mount her they may still fight because they smell a female.
i would keep your dog away from other dogs when shes in season..i know you will keep the males away but if there are any entact males they tend to b aggressive towards other males when they smell a female in heat..
also as far as the bleeding...some dogs do bleed alot but then there are others that hardly bleed..
