I have a 5 month old baby, and I was wondering if the Shark portable steamer really works. I was thinking of ordering the one that is currently in about 75 infomercials a day. It's not the mop, but the one to do windows, counters, cabinets, tubs.... I'm trying to get away from using so many chemicals around the baby and thought this would be a good alternative, but does it really work? Has anyone actually tested the sanitaion level? I really want it to kill germs!

I don't have that particular model, but I do have one that I use for windows and fabrics and household cleaning and it does a wonderful job...like you say without the chemicals. Anytime you kill the bacteria, you kill the odors and that's good.
Because you have kids, for an extra measure...you can always spray things with Clorox Anywhere (it's safe around infants, toys, food, pets, everything. It's for hard surfaces).
I've seen where steam cleaners are recommended for cleaning mattresses to kill bed bugs and things of that nature. I like sanitizing the furniture, seat cushions--things like that. And it got the dirt out, killed dust mites.
I'd say it's definitely one of those gadgets that's worth owning--just pick out one that suits your needs.
I don't have a Shark, I have a very old steam cleaner for floors. and I love it. It gets up everything with just water. cat throw up, dog pee, stickers, jelly, and plain old dirt. I use it around in the bathroom.
It is so quick and works better than any other method I have used to clean floors.
that could matter on the unit u have. a number of them have attachments to try this, yet while u in basic terms offered the stick type, it wont. the only I somewhat have does have attachments that could try this .If u have attachments choose for it. i could evaluate taking them exterior to do it so while it have been given messy u would not could clean that up 2. I somewhat have the only that sounds like a canister vacuum, its pink/black.
