It seems logically impossible to me that an outsider who rejects the Law outright could have any better conception of what is 'legalistic' compared to what an insider would know !!!! See what I mean :) Sorta silly when you see it in that light.
In fact I don't know that. If you are talking about the whole Christian church (christianity) it just might be, I don't know. But see, there are so many christian groups around the world... it would be crazy to say they are all legalistic.
The main reason I stay in my church is because it feeds me with the word of God and gives me the wonderful company of other chrisians who help in my grow with Jesus.

Society is very legalistic and yet I stay here.
The Church to me is every minute of my existence. I don't rely on a religious building or group of people to represent me.

Because subsection 3, paragraph 2 of Leviticus expressly bans leaving the Church.
