i have an old white ipod that only holds like 2GB i think. i just ran out of space so i was trying to clear some by deleting playlists, first just the ones i made the the ones that came with it (90's music and most popular or something like that). i plugged my ipod back in hoping to add my new songs but instead it erased all of them off the ipod. they are still all in my library but there is nothing on the ipod and it says it cant add anything because files were deleted. i don't know how to get the files back and i want my songs!!!! if anyone could please help i would be very thankful!

When you setup itunes, did you set it to save the music files to your computer also? if so, when you started deleting the play lists, did you select to remove the songs from the computer also? If so, well, your are out of luck with those. Always make a back up every so often. You can click on File > Add File To Library or Add Folder To Library if the songs have not been deleted off your computer hard drive. You will need to know where you stored the files on the computer when you click on those options to add files/folders. You can do that by opening the Preferences and clicking on Advanced tab and look to see where they are stored.
Hope that helped you. Good Luck!
