My husband is applying to work for NASCAR, building and repairing cars. They do not do applications, only resumes. We made him a resume last night, but can we just hand it in like that? Or should it have a cover on it? Were kinda new at this. The resume has his name, address, and phone number already on it. We got the resume from Microsoft Word... Just curious if he hands that in alone or add something to it.. THanks for the advice!!!

Absolutely include a cover letter. Omitting one is very unprofessional. And job that requires a resume instead of an application should have one. The cover letter should include reasons why he thinks he should be hired and it should also highlight his skills. Basically, you want to brag about yourself. Personally, I wouldn't look twice at any resume that didn't include a cover letter.
Cover letters are never a bad idea, but I don't personally use them. If you go with one, be sure to make it short and sweet, and focus why he wants to work for NASCAR, and abilities that are hard to communicate on a resume.
at the start, is it o.ok. to fax the resume to the corporation? if so, then deliver the conceal letter first. Then, fax the resume. If no longer, placed the conceal letter on suitable of your resume and mail it to the employer address. make certain the conceal letter and resume are impeccable- no typos, spelling blunders, etc. in case you spot one or 2, restoration it ideal away. I even have common interviewers to toss any resumes with blunders in it. they suspect if the applicant does not care to restoration the blunders, this might take place at artwork, too. sturdy luck.
