My puppy is a medium/large breed? He's 2 months and he was hit by a car last night when I walked into the store. This was the first time he came with me and I figured he would wait right there with my other dog. His whole back end was completely run over but he's standing and walking. He has a bulge that seems swollen in his stomach area. He has no abrasions on the outside though. I live in a remote villiage in alaska which requires alot of travel to get to the nearest vet clinic. I would hate to pay $500 + to have him put to sleep when the local police do that here. Does anyone have any knoweldge of this? Is there a chance he could get better? He is also feeling and looking alot better than last night he wouldn't eat last night and I had to use a dropper to give him water. This morning he chomped down a bowl of food no problem but is still really quiet , yet he walked up and down the hallway once! Anyone know if I could give him asprin? anything I guess would help I'm completely lost

http://vetmedicine.about.com/cs/altvetmedgeneral/a...

on the last site i put on here you can ask a vet and get an answer right away.
OMG i really hope this helps and God Bless you and your puppy.
Nope - get pout the sled, he really really needs a vet.
DON'T feed him anymore until you get there, and DON'T give him any aspirin or otehr drugs - he sounds as if he has internal injuries, and will require surgery. You don't want him to vomit under the anesthesia, and you don;t want to thin out his blood with the aspirin so as to cause any more bleeding.
There is no way to give you the prognosis, but I would hope that if I were run over, someone would get me medical attention... please go, and give him a chance.
There are grants available if money is a factor - try these if things get serious., but please get him to the vet right away.

The Mosby Foundation:
Our Mission Statement: The Mosby Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, to assist in the care of sick, injured, abused and neglected dogs through financial support and public education.
It's really very simple. A rescue group, foster person, shelter or vet has a dog that requires medical care and there aren't sufficient funds for that treatment. The Mosby Foundation is contacted by a licensed veterinarian with case details. Our Board decides whether we can help, and if so, how.
American Animal Hospital Association www.aahahelpingpets.org/home The heartbreak happens all too often. A pet owner is unable to afford treatment and their sick or injured companion animal pays the price. If the owner is elderly, disabled or on a fixed income, the cost of care may be too much of a stretch for their pocketbook. Perhaps they have been victimized by crime, property loss or a job layoff and are experiencing a temporary financial hardship making it too difficult to afford pet care. And some animals, brought to clinics by Good Samaritans, don't have an owner to pay for treatment. Whatever the situation, the fact remains the same: When sick or injured animals are unable to receive veterinary care, they suffer. Through the AAHA Helping Pets Fund, veterinary care is possible for sick or injured pets even if they have been abandoned or if their owner is experiencing financial hardship."

He may have several broken bones & be bleeding internally. If this is the case it doesn't look very promising.
You can give him a baby asprin but that would be like putting a bandaid on a major wound.
Is there any body in town that would be able to help you? Like someone who Vets their own animals.
There is no way anyone online can tell if if your dog is going to be ok after being hit by a car because we can not see or examine the dog. He needs to be seen by a vet that can diagnose and treat him. The dog may have internal injuries that could be treated and save his life.
Hello. I have been around and treat animals all my life and i would have had the dog to the vet straight away. I am not going at you because it is hard to know what to do at first but that dog could die in so much pain and that is hard to live with. Hope things turn out well for you ok. GOod luck. Take care.
Yes you can give him aspirin. But if he has internal injuries and bleeding aspirin could make it worse as it is a blood thinner. I would keep him as quiet as possible and see what he does over the next day. I would guess that the bulge on his stomach is an internal injury and may require surgery to repair. I would get him to the vet. If you want to save him. the fact he made it over night is encouraging. but if he has ruptured intestines or something his system will slowly poison itself without medical intervention.
Wow, sorry to hear about your puppy. No! to aspirin or any other pain killer not made for dogs.
Since you stated that you live in a remote area, perhaps you could call a Vet in your nearest city to ask for advice.
That bulge doesn't sound right, he could have a serious edema in his internal organs. Get advice as soon as possible. .
I agree with the person above me cause that dog needs some medical attention. Also if he is hurting give him some aspirin cause there is always a chance to get them better.
Well lets see if he was ran over completely on his back side, why don't u lay down on the ground and let a five hundered or so lb tire run over you and see if it don't hurt or make you have injuries you can't see.. I'd take him to the vets and see what they say.. they can do xrays and so forth.. HELLO!!!
TAKE HIM TO THE VET ASAP. The bulge sounds like a hernia, and needs surgery to fix. The vet will tell you what needs to happen, and it is completely possible he won't need to be put down.
