it can be done from a 2WD to a 2WD, or a 4WD to a 4WD, but it would not last very long.
GM has a habit of putting one less clutch per pack into their 6 cylinder transmissions than they do their 8 cylinder transmissions. It would have only 80% the clutch surface area (holding power) than the right transmission
Jason, the 4L60E was the factory transmission for half-ton rated and smaller vehicles. So unless the Yukon is a 3/4 ton rated truck (8-lug not the LD2500 6-lug, then it had the 60E stock).
The '97+ model 60E is slightly different that the '96 and older models. There is a very slight difference that I cannot currently remember.
If one is a 4wd unit and the other is a 2wd, you will need to swap the tail housings to accept the transfer-case.
To use a 4L80E, you would need the wiring harness, and have your computer flashed to work with the 80E. It would be easier to just get a stand-alone controller for the 80E.
well he 4L60E transmission is a piece of junk so why would you want to put it in yukon?
I would be surprised after all the work of putting it in that it would last very long. since you are going from a small rig to a full size that is going to have more power, heavier and more stress on the tranny.
Go find yourself a 4L80E transmission for your Yukon.

good luck
This transmission will work in your truck, but you will have to pull the pan off and swap out the harness.
maybe depends on the wire connections. it will fit physically but the electronics might not fit and that will be your problem
anybody make this work? switch electronics and thats it?
