I understand that, in Germany, due to limited space, you rent a burial plot for your deceased loved one for about 20 or so years, and after that, someone else gets buried in that plot. But what do German cemeteries do with a body when its lease on a burial plot is up? Trash it? Cremate it? Put it in a mass, unmarked grave?

As after 20 years or more there (hopefully) is not much left, it its mixed with the surrounding earth (usually deeper) when a new grave is made. Big chunks are shredded. Things that can not decay are put on the common dump. Ashes from cremations are set anonymous and space efficient aside.
@David, I for one find it weird to take body mass out of natures cycle just because it was a human once.
WOW, that is FRIKIN WEIRD!!! Maybe they should STOP burying dead people? Just cremate them? They can do that and if the living relatives want to (& have enough money...) They can do this! Heck, I hope my kids will do this someday... maybe not for awhile however, ha, ha...
