Okay, Okay I know I'm in the stone age. I have a VCR DVD combo, and YES, I use the VCR quite frequently. For one thing, I don't have the money to replace all my old VHS with a DVD copy (why buy a movie I already have?) and the local Library has lots of good stuff on VHS that they don't have on DVD..
Anyway.. today I went to pop in a tape and encountered a problem I'd had before..
Once in awhile (this is the 2nd or 3rd time it's happened) I try to watch a VHS and it's really fuzzy.. like the tracking is way off.. BUT.. please read the following points...
1. It's not the tape.. If I pop in another tape and another and another, they all are fuzzy...later the "problem tapes" are just fine
2. It's not the tracking (I think) I've tried ajusting it until I'm blue in the face...I see the tracking changing, but the fuzziness I'm talking about doesn't change
3. It's not the TV.. plays a DVD clear as a bell..
4. Yes I HAVE tried using a VHS head cleaning tape. DIdn't work (unless it was a delayed effect)
Any other thoughts on what could be the problem? Last time it did this, I tried several tapes, tried cleaning the head (with a VHS head cleaning "tape".. still the same afterward) a few days later, tried again and it was fine!!
But It's very inconvenient to "wait" and hope it gets better on it's own
Any other thoughts on what could be the problem???
Please??

The pinch roller is a rubber roller which guides the tape along the tape path. After time these wear out and whill change shape after about 15 minutes of use due to internal temperature changes of the unit. This will cause the tape to lift, or drop slightly off the tape path and cause the picture to become bad. It's a fairly simple repair, just take it in to get a full professional service, should cost no more than $45, explain the symptoms, you should get looked after and enjoy all your old VHS Tapes!
Your VCR will provide up if it detects too lots resistance in the tape - that's meant to resign your VCR stretching and snapping tapes. If it happens on one tape then that tape is probably stiff quickly forward to the top and returned returned so the VCR winds it to it truly is very own stress. If it happens on all tapes then the force mechanism on your VCR is worn
It's definitely something inside the VCR. Either get it fixed, get a new one, or get a DVD/ Blu- Ray combo.
Just buy a new VCR, they are dirt cheap.
vcr is too old to work right
