Experiencing some mild withdrawals after short term valium use to help manage pain post surgery. Dose in a week went from - 2 day of 3x5mg to 2x2mg for 2 days and 1 x 2mg for 4 days. Slight anxious feeling since coming off for 2 days. Is this possible for such small dose/short time and how long likely to last?
Update:It would appear you are right Zootal. Good answer. :)

It doesn't sound like Valium withdrawal. The withdrawal syndrome from drugs in the Valium family are severe.and a week of low dose use you describe should not be enough to develop a physical dependence. The anxiety is probably just your concern about harmful effects from benzodiazapine withdrawal. You were likely prescribed the Valium as a post operative muscle relaxant. While it doesn't sound like withdrawal, if the surgery was that recent, it's quite possible you are still experiencing muscle spasms and tension from the surgery. You will likely have better results going to a different drug than such a small dose of Valium.
Again I don't think this applies to you but withdrawal from a drug like Valium should last 2 weeks. If you stay outside the benzodiazapine family of drugs (atiavan, klonipin, xanax R just a few) it would not begin the cycle over again.
Just a personal note. Surgery of any kind is a traumatic event. You did your bit getting through it successfully. Now do something nice for yourself..A little distraction goes a long way particularly if you are anxious about the success of the surgery or a biopsy result. Do something you will enjoy. Good luck
A week of Valium is all it takes to experience minor withdrawals when you quit. The good news is that it won't last more than about a week, give or take, and in only a few days you will feel better. Yes, it is normal to feel a bit more anxious when you quit it, even if you have only taken it for a week. Be glad you didn't take it for longer than that, as withdrawals from long term usage can be severe.
I know this from cold hard experience, coupled with a lot of research on the topic. I've taken valium and xanax both. They are highly addictive (dependance developing) drugs, and the brain quickly develops tolerance and dependance.
