My boyfriend is super shy when it comes to talking...?

My boyfriend is kinda shy when it comes to having a conversation, which means there are alot of awkward silences. We just both have nothing to talk about when we're with each other, besides lame stuff like school, which gets old after a while. I'm not really the best at keeping a conversation going, but I have to start every conversation we have and try and keep them going because he's pretty shy.

so what are some things i can say to keep a conversation going?

and what are some things i can do during awkward silences that doesn't involve talking? just to make it a comfortable silence..

Learn to ask open ended questions and follow ups if his answers are too short.

Typically, people like to talk about themselves. Since he's shy he might be a little embarrassed to talk about himself. So ask him questions that are complimentary.

"Why do you think it is that you're so good in math?"

"You read through that book pretty fast. What did you like about it?"

"Everyone else has problems with Ms. X in science class, but you don't seem to have any problems. How did you manage that?"

"What's the secret to getting that high a score in that Shoot 'Em up video game you play?"

"I need an idea for a creative writing story for English class but can't think of any. Help me."

Get him use to talking to you.

Don't ask questions that allow one or two word answers. And if he gives you one or two word answers, follow up with more questions. Be like the two year old that just keeps asking "why?" but with more creative questions.

guys really only have so many words per day to use, so I'll hafta go with the cuddling suggestion too. They do like to cuddle. And if you feel the need to talk, ask really random questions, like "do you like mayo or mustard or miracle whip? If you got to the edge of the universe and stuck your head thru, what would be there? Do blondes really have more fun? What is the perfect breast size? Can you fart the alphabet? Or any such randomness that may make him laugh, then lead to cuddling. :)
