Is my hair really going from straight to curly?

So for my whole life I have had straight brown hair. For as long as I can remember, it hasn't had any waves and has been completely straight. My dad had straight blond hair that turned brown when he was little, and my mom has had very red, super curly hair for her whole life. I have always envied my moms hair, and I have never really liked mine.

Anyway, I am almost 15, and I am just growing my hair out again. It has been short (above shoulders, but not boy short, just a little longer than a bob.) for the past 4 years and I am now growing it out. It just got past my shoulders, and is almost an inch past them. So in my health class we were just learning about hair, and my health teacher asked who in my class had straight hair, so I raised my hand. But then she told me mine wasn't straight and that any hair that isn't completely straight is classified as wavy or curly. So when I got home, I noticed my hair wasn't as perfectly straight as I remembered. I have been noticing this for a while, since I started growing out my hair. It isn't exactly curly, but it has a few soft waves. Did i just not notice before because my hair was shorter, or is this happening because of puberty? I read somewhere that it can happen. I am really hoping that my hair gets curly, so please answer truthfully! Thanks!

Update:

I just looked in a mirror so here is a more detailed description on my hair:

The ends curl in a little bit by my neck. not enough to be a curl but just a little, like i made a curve with a straightener. Then in the actual body of my hair, it curves a few times. When i feel my hair, i can feel a few bumps from the curves and I can tell it isn't as straight as it used to be.
