Technically speaking, the yantra has to be created according precise specifications using precise material and preferably created by someone initiated into the meaning and ritual construction of the yantra. The person then using the mantra also has to be initiated into the use of the yantra. Each yantra is unique and has unique mantras and dieties associated with it.
