I am just curious about this - Ok, what I learned as a CNA in the past, and seems to be common knowledge, is that you cannot consume nothing but caffeinated fluids all day all the time (such as coffee) without becoming dehydrated. Also what seems to be common knowledge, is that if your urine is clear-ish then you're properly hydrated, and if its darker in color you're not...
So how is it that coffee (NOT decaf) is my primary drink of choice, with water, tea, juice etc being only occasional, but as long as I drink about 10 or 12 cups a day, my urine is almost clear? Does the urine color thing not count unless all you're drinking is water/juice?
++just a side note++ I know this is not healthy and have already started drinking more water than anything else with the intention of cutting caffeine out completely so please no preach just answer the question :)

you kind of answered your own question. caffeine in coffee/tea/soda is a natural diuretic. it forces the body to dump more liquid than is healthy. i,ve been there, done that. i have to drink 64 oz. or more of water on top of my daily intake of tea/coffee to stay hydrated. some people do well on coffee alone. i,m not one of those people. enjoy the coffee. i just don,t think that 12 cups is good. keep up the good work. meds can darken your urine, as can vitamin and mineral supplements..
to simply answer your question, if you are peeing yellow then just drink some more H20. Simple as that. If you feel like you are properly hydrated (which people often overestimate) and are still not peeing clear then it's most likely due to excess vitamins like b12, supplements, protein. What are you taking right now? Sometimes this overload of different things don't mix so well and put a lot of stress on your kidney which will cause your urine to be dark and not clear. Hope this helps!
Also, if it's pale yellow then do not worry. as long as you're not peeing all day like you do in the morning
