I have seen the Mythos speakers listed in the "Best of the Year" articles in Home Theater magazine. Martin Logan is also a well respected brand.
Can you go listen to them? Bring a CD (yes a CD, not a DVD).
Every speaker, even good ones, have a different 'flavor'. Listen to a favorite song you are familiar with to discover what sounds good (ok 'familiar') to you.
In truth - movie sound tracks work well even on much lower end speakers. The higher density music is a better test.
